Learning & Fun Beyond Classrooms
The mark of true education is the ability to shape students to be better human beings. Teaching them valuable lessons that go beyond textbooks. The Directorate of Student Affairs (DSA) at the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) strives to shape tomorrow’s promises for our students. SRMIST operates on the belief that the purpose of education is to ensure young minds are sensitive, empathetic, and responsible. We offer platforms to not just help them engage in areas of their interest but also help them realise their talents and abilities. Most students joining our clubs find that these are sources of new beginnings concerning who they are! The Clubs at SRMIST are an avenue to provide an avenue to your untapped potential, making new friends beyond your department, classroom and batch, and working together in teams with responsibility and accountability.

SRM - ISACA Group
About ISACA:
Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) is a non-profit, global membership association for IT and information systems professionals. The benefits offered through globally accepted research, certifications and community collaboration result in greater trust in and value from information systems. Through more than 200 chapters established in more than 80 countries, ISACA provides its members with education, resource sharing, advocacy, professional networking and a host of other benefits on a local level.
ISACA constituents work in nearly all industry categories, including financial and banking, public accounting, government and the public sector, utilities and manufacturing. Members rely on ISACA for resources that enhance their skills, expand their professional knowledge and connect them with a vibrant community of peers.
ISACA Membership:
ISACA members have direct access to research, certifications and products that align systems and strategy. Members are connected to a global professional community and have the opportunity to contribute directly to advancing the profession and developing its body of knowledge. ISACA membership and its certification programs are globally accepted and recognized. In fact, independent studies continue to demonstrate that holding an ISACA designation enhances professional recognition, credibility and earning potential. Connecting IT professionals across a variety of industries, geography and professions, ISACA is dedicated to providing products and services that bring value to members. It offers educational events that meet the needs of all IT professionals.
ISACA Chennai Chapter:
The ISACA Chennai Chapter, which started in July 1986, is the first in India and one of the oldest in Asia. It is one of the few chapters in the world to have an office premise of its own. The chapter has over 1000 members and it is growing each year. The ISACA Chennai Chapter conducts monthly professional development meetings, CISA and CISM review classes and various other events. Every year towards the end of this ISACA Chennai Chapter organises an annual conference during the last week of November. The chapter's members have instituted various awards, including the best speaker prize for monthly meetings and CISA, CISM and CGEIT. It will extend and expand such awards to make the profession more vibrant and dynamic. To honour the vision of the founders, the Chapter celebrates the anniversary of its founding as Founders' Day.
Certifications offered by ISACA:
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
- Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT)
- Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)
ISACA certifications are globally accepted and recognized. They combine the achievement of passing an exam with credit for the work and educational experience, giving the credibility needed to move ahead in career growth. Certification proves employers have what it takes to add value to their enterprise. Many organisations and governmental agencies around the world require or recognise ISACA's certifications.
Earning and maintaining an ISACA certification boosts one's earning potential, counts in the hiring process, and enhances professional credibility and recognition.
Benefits of running a Student Group:
- Develop a forum for learning beyond the classroom.
- Organize fun campus events with students from other related disciplines (accounting, business, engineering, IT/computer science).
- Gain leadership opportunities to add to a resume or CV.
- Connect with local chapter professionals.
- Get mentoring on career paths from experienced practitioners.
- Contact industry leaders with job opportunities post-graduation.
SRM-ISACA Student Group (SRM-ISG)
SRM ISACA Student Group encourages education beyond the classroom by allowing students to network, learn from each other, and connect with a supportive group of professionals. The student group allows students to learn about ISACA. Various events could be conducted by the college ISACA group and the local chapter; through these events, students benefit enormously.
Postgraduate students from the Information Security and Cyber Forensics (ISCF) Department of Information Technology at SRM University have come forward to initiate the SRM ISACA Student Group (SRM-ISG) inside the premises. Through this group, students will develop a forum for learning beyond the classroom; they will gain leadership opportunities, added value during placement recruitment, and most importantly, they will get to connect with local chapter professionals.
