Library

As the face is the index of a person, so is the library for a college. Our college library now has a collection of 6164 volumes of books on a variety of subjects. Some of which are rare & invaluable. Most care is taken in developing resources for each department. Library is working continuously for 12 hours from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. The staff members (1 Librarian, 1 Asst. Librarian) are divided into 2 groups and 2 shift systems are in force. Our Library subscribes more than 100 online Periodicals (Ebsco database) and has a good collection of CDs on various fields. The seating capacity of the library is 200.

COLLECTIONS:

Textbooks prescribed in the syllabus, plethora of impressive volumes in all disciplines, reference books, encyclopedia, and dictionaries.

PERIODICALS:

Our Library Subscribes Ebsco Dentistry Database. Which has 105 periodicals and 30 e-books. Our Library has 1954 Back volumes of Journals from 2001.

CD ROM’s

Presently our library has 408 CDs.

Overview

The SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University) has an excellent library for the benefit of students, faculties and researchers. As one of the best-established libraries according to international standards, the University Central Library has a large collection of text and reference books covering various branches of Engineering and Technology, Medical and Health Sciences, and Science and Humanities and its related fields. The library is nearly three decades old. It is completely automated with RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, Centralized Air Conditioned (AC), CCTV security systems, and fire alarms.

WORKING HOURS

Central Library is open to all our students, scholars, faculty members from the morning up until late at night and is a delightfully convenient space to assist learning, exploration and reference mandates.

CENTRAL / UNIVERSITY LIBRARY FOR INFORMATION

Automation & Services

All operations and services of the library have been automated with RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology using Windows-based in-house software developed by a team of programmers and the library staff of the SRM Institute of Science and Technology. It operates on a Windows 2000 server, Oracle with J2EE. The software has excellent operational modules such as transaction, query, administration, reporting modules, etc.

An OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) has been created and about 17 terminals are provided to facilitate access. It is also made available via LAN on campus.

USER SERVICES

The library provides tremendous services to all staff, researchers, scholars, and students of SRMIST. All resources, print and electronic, such as books, journals, and other materials, are indexed properly to facilitate the users. A library is a place with a wide array of services that would make you choose this library as one of your favourite places on campus.
