Dental Program Regulations

1) The Bachelor of Dental Surgery builds relationships in the following three domains to prepare graduates for professional practice: Knowledge : As students strengthen their connection to knowledge, they will develop,
  • An awareness of the scientific method as it relates to biological, behavioral, and social sciences
  • An awareness of normal structure, function, and development as it relates to clinical dentistry practice at all life stages; an awareness of the molecular, biochemical, and cellular mechanisms that are crucial for preserving the body’s homeostasis
  • An awareness of a knowledge of the treatment of significant oral and medically linked disorders (pharmacological, physical, nutritional, behavioral, and psychological).
  • The capacity to obtain fresh information from any source, evaluate it critically, and apply it to their delivery of oral healthcare services
  • The capacity to pick up knowledge in a variety of contexts from patients, medical professionals, and the community
  • An understanding of the obligation to aid in the creation of new knowledge.
  • An appreciation of research methodologies and their applications.
2) The Master of Dental Surgery builds relationships in the following three domains to prepare graduates for professional practice: Skill:
  • The students will develop skill as they enhance the knowledge in oral healthcare
  • Capable of diagnosing and treating a wide range of typical dental issues that arise in general dentistry while keeping in mind social norms and the right of patients to the best care possible
  • Learn how to avoid problems and deal with them when they arise during a variety of surgical and other procedures
  • Have the ability to analyze results from laboratories and the proficiency to conduct specific investigative techniques
  • Wherever possible, support dental health and work to prevent oral illnesses and
  • understand the scientific underpinnings of infection control, antisepsis, and sterilization.
  • Skilled in managing patients’ discomfort and anxiety while receiving dental care
  • Execute certain research procedures and possess the capacity to decipher laboratory results
Attitudes:
  • A knowledge of each health professional’s roles, duties, and areas of expertise as well as how they collaborate as teams to provide oral healthcare
  • An awareness of teamwork principles and the capacity to work well in a team, including as a leader
  • An appreciation of the duty to support the education of all health professionals; and a respect for the roles and expertise of other health care professionals and the ability to communicate with them in an effective manner
  • An awareness of the safety and quality standards in healthcare systems the capacity to function as a dentist within a quality and safety framework, including the capacity to identify, address, and draw lessons from unfavorable situations
  • An awareness of the fundamentals of efficient record keeping and the capacity to preserve records of excellent quality
  • A comprehension of the concepts of health care coordination and continuity
  • An awareness of the architecture of the global health care system as well as the Indian health care system
  • An awareness of the concepts guiding the effective and fair distribution and utilization of limited resources in health care systems, both locally and globally
Knowledge:
  • Exhibit knowledge of foundational sciences pertinent to the specialty
  • Explain the causes, mechanisms of disease, principles of diagnosis, and approaches to treating common issues in the specialty in both adults and children
  • Recognize circumstances that may be outside the field of specialization or competence and send them to the relevant specialist
  • Identify social, economic, environmental, and emotional causes in a specific case and take them into account for planned treatment
  • Keep up with current trend through self-study and attendance at seminars, conferences, and courses related to your field of expertise
  • Conduct audits, make use of information technology, and conduct basic and clinical research with the goal of publishing or presenting the findings at various scientific gatherings
Attitudes:
  • Gather a complete clinical history, assess the patient, carry out necessary diagnostic procedures, order pertinent tests, and interpret the results to arrive at a reasonable diagnosis of the ailment
  • Develop the necessary abilities and proficiency to carry out the various procedures as called for in the specialty

  • Uphold the highest moral and ethical standards when conducting research on humans or animals
  • Be modest and accept the limitations of his knowledge and skill and ask for assistance from colleagues when necessary
  • Respect patients’ rights and privileges, including the patient’s right to information and the right to seek a second opinion.
