About Us

  • The SRM group of educational institutions started its very own dental college (SRM Kattankulathur) in the year 2007. In this very short span of four years, the college has witnessed tremendous growth in clinical care. Seeing the growing patient inflow SRM Kattankulathur Dental College has now started its post-graduate specialty in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • The three-year PG course aims to cover extensively the following areas - maxillofacial trauma, maxillofacial pathology, orthognathic surgery, aesthetic facial surgery, temporomandibular surgery, facial reconstruction, craniofacial surgery, and dentoalveolar surgery. The added advantage of SRM General Hospital in the same campus with "state-of-art" facilities and experienced faculty in OMFS, who are enthusiastic and committed to aspiring maxillofacial surgery making SRM an ideal stepping stone for their motivation towards excellence in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS).
  • The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the SRM Kattankulathur Dental College Hospital specializes in treating many diseases, injuries, and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws, and the hard and soft tissues of the mouth. It is an internationally recognized surgical specialty, depending upon the jurisdiction; maxillofacial surgeons may require training in dentistry, surgery, and general medicine. All surgeons must obtain a university degree in dentistry before beginning residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery. In the department of OMFS, we learn to give anaesthesia which is required for most of the procedures done in the department. They deal with the removal of impacted teeth, and the management of fractures related to the head and neck regions. Implant placement, management of head and neck cancer, and management of any malocclusions. The department has an outstanding library and brilliant staff that guide and teach the students to become great dentists. The various cases in the department give great exposure and an amazing learning experience. The department has highly qualified staff with great experience, training students for a better future.
  • The outpatient division in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery has 40 dental chairs with an air-conditioned and well-equipped minor operating theatre. The major cases are posted in SRM General Hospital where Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) has been allotted its theatre and ward. The department treats 2000 outpatients on average which include 100 minor cases and 25 major cases per month. The undergraduate trainees are well exposed to the ample number of basic exodontial and minor oral surgical care. The causality setup in SRM General Hospital functions on a 24-hour basis, with trained doctors available to handle medical emergencies. The department has also benefited from being a team member in this emergency care system. There is a well-equipped surgical intensive care unit to monitor the patient's progress around the clock. The hospital is supported by a laboratory and department of radiology which include special investigations like CT and MRI.
