  • Dental Public health is the science of preventing and controlling dental diseases and promoting dental health through organized community efforts.
  • It is that form of dental practice that serves the community as a whole rather than the individual.
  • SRM Kattankulathur Dental College has an independent public health dentistry department.
  • Outreach activities are conducted regularly in association with the two satellite clinics.

Infrastructure


  • Fully equipped undergraduate department with 16 dental units with a museum and library facility
Teaching Learning methods
  • Teaching involves theory and clinical postings.
  • The theory involves Virtual method & offline method (power points,chalk & talk, group discussion, seminar,models, visuals, etc.)
  • Clinical practice involves Case discussion and emphasizing preventive needs to the patients.
Mobile Dental Bus
  • Fully Functional mobile bus with 12-15 seating capacity
  • Two electrical driven Dental chairs
  • Provision for Treatment
Little flock
  • This is an independent functioning dental unit which is in collaboration with an NGO run by a Christian missionary. It’s located at hanumanthapuram and the dental unit is run by our department. Basic treatments are all provided at nominal cost and the school associated with it has been adopted for providing school based oral health care.
Medical OP
  • The Public Health Dentistry department also runs a dental unit with the SRM medical hospital (Room No: C-2/27. This unit was started with the aim of providing comprehensive medical/dental care under one roof and making dental services easily available to all.
Maraimalainagar Urban Health Centre - Dental Wing
  • The Urban Health Centre in Maraimalainagar provides dental care to the population in and around Maraimalainagar.
  • We provide cost free basic treatments like restorations, scaling, and extractions to the needy. Patients requiring more complex treatment are referred to SRM Kattankulathur Dental College.
Mamandur Rural Health Centre – Dental Wing
  • Mamandur Rural Health Centre is located at 25kms from SRM Kattankulathur Dental College. It provides dental care to the population in and around Mamandur functioning in collaboration with medical unit.
  • Mamandur Dental Unit offers certain cost free basic treatments like restorations, scaling, extractions to the needy. Patients requiring more complex treatment are referred to SRM Kattankulathur Dental college.
