Awareness Program on “Say No to Drugs” Conducted at SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital
SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital, in association with the University Wellness Program, organised an awareness program on “Say No to Drugs” and “Law Relating to Intoxicants, Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances” on 11th December 2026 at the Lecture Hall.
The program was conducted under the guidance of Dr. N. Vivek, Dean, Professor and Head, and Dr. K. T. Magesh, Vice Principal, Professor and Head. Dr. Senthil Selvan, Convener of the Anti-Drug Committee and Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, SRMIST, coordinated the initiative as part of the institution’s continued commitment to student welfare and responsible campus culture.
The resource person, Mrs. Parvathy, Assistant Professor at SRM School of Law and member of the Unit-9 NSS Cell, delivered an informative session on the legal framework governing intoxicants, narcotic drugs, and psychotropic substances. She explained the statutory provisions, legal consequences of possession and consumption, and the broader social implications of substance abuse.
Addressing the health dimension, Dr. K. T. Magesh, Dr. Lakshmanan T, and Dr. Sathya T spoke about the short- and long-term physical and psychological effects of drug use, emphasising prevention, awareness, and personal responsibility. The program was organised with the support of Dr. Deepak Chandrasekharan (Professor and Head; Advisor, NSS Cell), Dr. Lakshmanan T (Professor and Head), Dr. S. Swathi (Lecturer and Student Coordinator), and Dr. Sathya T (University Wellness Program Coordinator).
The session concluded with an interactive discussion, encouraging students to make informed choices and actively contribute to maintaining a safe, healthy, and drug-free campus environment.
