Clinical Society Meeting Showcases Advancing Perspectives in Periodontics

The Department of Periodontics at SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital held its Clinical Society Meeting on 29 October at Lecture Hall 1. The session brought together faculty members, postgraduate students, and interns for an afternoon of clinical discussion and fresh insights.

The programme featured two detailed presentations.
The first, Ridge Revival: A Dual Case Report on Ridge Augmentation Success, was delivered by Dr Supriti Brahma (II Year PG) and Dr Merita S (III Year PG). They walked the audience through two challenging cases, outlining treatment planning, surgical execution, and long-term outcomes. Their presentation underscored the evolving techniques in ridge augmentation and their impact on restorative predictability.

The second presentation, Role of Social Media in Periodontal Health, was presented by Dr Subhasri Raman (I Year PG). She explored how patient behaviour, awareness, and misconceptions are increasingly shaped by online content. Her talk opened up a meaningful conversation on the responsibility of clinicians to guide patients through evidence-based information in a digital age.

The meeting created space for active academic exchange and encouraged participants to look at both clinical innovation and patient communication with a wider lens. Sessions like these continue to strengthen the department’s commitment to advancing periodontal education and practice.
