Guest Lecture Highlights Pediatric Rotary Endodontics at UiTM Kuala Lumpur

The Faculty of Dentistry at Universiti Teknologi MARA, Kuala Lumpur, hosted an insightful guest lecture and hands-on workshop led by Dr. Sujitha Ponraj and Dr. Arya Acca Varghese from the Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry. The session brought together students, interns, and young practitioners who were eager to strengthen their skills in pediatric endodontic care.

The lecture focused on Pediatric Rotary Endodontics, a field that has grown rapidly with the shift toward more predictable, efficient, and child-friendly treatment methods. Dr. Sujitha and Dr. Arya walked participants through the science behind rotary instrumentation in primary teeth, explaining how evidence-based protocols improve accuracy, reduce chairside time, and enhance comfort for young patients.

What made the session stand out was the practical component. Participants had the chance to work directly with rotary systems used in pediatric cases, understand the nuances of canal anatomy in primary teeth, and apply updated clinical steps under expert supervision. The hands-on segment helped many translate theoretical knowledge into confident clinical execution.

The interaction throughout the workshop was lively, with attendees raising case-based questions and exploring real-world challenges in pediatric endodontics. The speakers also shared clinical tips, common pitfalls, and decision-making strategies tailored for young clinicians.

The event concluded with a brief discussion on emerging trends in pediatric dental technology and the importance of continuous skill development to meet global clinical standards. The Faculty of Dentistry thanked both speakers for their contribution to advancing pediatric dental training and for inspiring students to approach their clinical practice with precision and curiosity.
