Bright Beams: A New Era for the World of Dentistry with Lasers at SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital
The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology at SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital, in collaboration with BIOLASE, organized a highly successful Continuing Dental Education (CDE) program titled “Bright Beams: Lasers in Dentistry: A Microforum. com Convention, f the event which took place on July 19, 2024, where the focus would be on the modern uses of lasers in dental procedures.
The event was attended by senior dignitaries Dr. N. Vivek, Dean of SRM Kattankulathur Dental College, SRMIST, and Dr. K T Magesh, Vice Principal of SRM Kattankulathur Dental College, SRMIST. They encouraged the institution and the faculty’s efforts to promote dental education and improve the incorporation of technology.
The event was over-educated by an interesting lecture and practical session on Laser Dentistry even by the guest of honor, Dr. Vidyaa Hari Iyer. Ms. Vidyaa, who is a leading specialist in this area gave the audience a fundamental outlook towards the application of lasers in dental surgeries and the advantages of the use of lasers in dental procedures.
The faculty members as well as the students were fully receptive to the activity with Interns gaining a lot from the practical session. Soft-tissue lasers are relatively new in dentistry and the students got a rare chance to practice on the laser and even learn more on it than what was in the curriculum.
The ‘Bright Beams’ show was lauded by Dr. N. Vivek, Dean (Dental), who praised the demonstration as a practical application of dental enhancement by students, calling the laser implementation important to control the company’s advanced patient care.
The event also aimed at education and training, fostering relationships, and ideas sharing among dental professionals. The audience was provided with more knowledge on how laser technology could revolutionize dental operations from accuracy to minimize patients’ discomfort to the general results of the treatment.
