SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Government of Tamil Nadu Conduct Free Dental Camp at M.M. Nagar

The Department of Public Health Dentistry at SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital teamed up with the Government of Tamil Nadu to host a free dental camp on 25 October 2025. The camp was organised under the state’s Nalam Kakkum Stalin initiative and held at St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, M.M. Nagar.

The idea was simple: take essential oral healthcare directly to people who often miss out on it. By the end of the day, 244 individuals had been screened for dental concerns ranging from routine issues to problems requiring early intervention. Among them, 52 patients received free treatment on the spot, ensuring they didn’t just walk away with advice but with real care delivered when they needed it.

A team of dentists, interns, and support staff from the college handled examinations, provided preventive guidance, and counselled patients on maintaining long-term oral health. The school offered a convenient and accessible venue, helping the camp draw steady participation from nearby communities.

What this really means is that the partnership brought meaningful dental services to people who might otherwise postpone or avoid treatment. For the organisers, it also underscored how outreach programs like this can push public health efforts beyond hospital walls and into everyday spaces.
