Exclusive Event for the First Year BDS Students

SRM Kattankulathur Dental College, Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology conducted HISTOCRAFT. This was an exclusive event for first-year BDS students, conducted annually. The third edition of the HISTOCRAFT happened this year on August 30, 2023, at Dr. T. P. Ganesan Auditorium Mini Hall 1. Students are divided into small groups and they participate in events like carving, model making, slogan competitions, photography, role play, etc.

One of the highlights of HISTOCRAFT-2023 was the interactive guest lecture that enriched the participants’ understanding of dentistry beyond the classroom. The guest speaker of the day, Dr. Karthikeyan Ramalingam, Associate Dean, Saveetha Dental College and Hospital, was an accomplished dental professional who offered a remarkable insight into the captivating world of dentistry as a profession and emphasized the scope of diverse opportunities they have in their future. The lecture was tailored to engage the audience, foster thoughtful discussions and inspire critical thinking.

The valedictory function event began by invoking divine blessings through the traditional Tamizhthai vazhthu. Professor Dr. Nitin Madhusudan Nagarkar, Dean (Medical), was the Chief Guest of the program.

Dr. K.T. Magesh, Vice Principal, Professor and Head of the Department of Oral Pathology, gave the introductory speech.

Dr. M. Sathyakumar, Professor, Department of Oral Pathology, gave the welcome address. Dr. N. Vivek, Dean, SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital, addressed the gathering. In his speech, he lauded the talents of the young minds and insisted on the importance of teamwork during the course and after the completion of dentistry. He appreciated the department for the organized and smooth flow of the event.
