Health Education Camp Conducted at Sivanandha Gurukulam on World Oral Health Day
In observance of World Oral Health Day, the Department of Public Health Dentistry at SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital organized a Health Education Camp on 20th March 2026 at Sivanandha Gurukulam. The initiative was aimed at promoting oral health awareness among children residing in the institution and equipping them with the knowledge needed to maintain good oral hygiene practices.
The camp focused on educating the children about the importance of daily oral care, including proper brushing techniques, the role of a balanced diet in maintaining healthy teeth, and the prevention of common dental problems. Faculty members and students from the Department of Public Health Dentistry conducted interactive sessions, using demonstrations and simple explanations to ensure that the concepts were easily understood by the young audience.
The program also emphasized the significance of early adoption of healthy habits and regular dental check-ups in preventing oral diseases. The children actively participated in the sessions, showing enthusiasm and curiosity while learning about maintaining their oral health.
This outreach initiative by the Department of Public Health Dentistry reflects its continued commitment to community service and preventive dental care, particularly among underserved populations. By engaging with children at a formative age, the department aims to foster long-term awareness and encourage healthier lifestyles for a better future.
