SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital Conducts Oral Cancer Awareness & Screening Camp

On the occasion of World Cancer Day, the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital took a proactive step in the fight against oral cancer by organising an Oral Cancer Awareness & Screening Camp for the auxiliary staff of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur.

This initiative, aligned with the Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons of India’s (AOMSI) theme—”Early Detection and Prevention of Oral Cancer,” aimed to educate and empower individuals with the knowledge and resources needed for early diagnosis and prevention of oral cancer.

Key Highlights of the Camp include:

~ 100 participants were screened using the advanced Veloscope device for early detection of potential oral cancer symptoms.
~ Education on self-examination techniques to help individuals identify warning signs at an early stage.
~ Awareness of the adverse effects of tobacco consumption and its direct link to oral cancer.

The initiative reflects SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital’s commitment to community health and cancer prevention, reinforcing the importance of early detection and proactive healthcare measures.
