Embracing the Geriatric Population
Medicine is a disease-oriented discipline. Geriatrics, however, calls for a more people-oriented stance. Old age is a sensitive phase; elderly people need care and comfort to lead a healthy life without worries and anxiety. The Department of Public Health Dentistry organized an oral care camp as a part of universal health coverage to provide quality care to the frail elderly who reside in Akshaya Trust's old age home. The interns of SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital conducted various health promotion activities, such as health education on the need for tooth replacement, maintenance of dentures, root caries management and the importance of nutrition and oral health. A dental examination was carried out and interactive sessions were conducted to listen to them and comfort them.
There are only two lasting gifts we should give our children: roots and wings.
The paediatric dental department of SRM KDC organised a rally on Children's Day, November 14, inaugurated by the Dean, Dr. Vivek, about ORAL HEALTH AWARENESS. Doctors rallied enthusiastically from the arch gate to the medical hospital by holding banners, slogans and hoardings about oral health. Doctors created awareness among the public by enunciating about dental hygiene, dental trauma and various other dental concerns. At the General Hospital, doctors performed flash mobs and an informative skit about paediatric oral health.

- 3 trimesters of pregnancy and dental treatment to undergo in each stage.
- Pregnancy-related oral changes in women like dental erosion, gingivitis, granuloma, dental caries, oral candidiasis and periodontitis
